Punching bag questions, answered

Everything customers ask us at the showroom and on the phone, written down properly. If your question is not here, just ask.

Choosing a punching bag

Should I buy a hanging or a standing punching bag?

It comes down to one question: can you drill into a solid concrete wall? If yes, a hanging bag gives more resistance, natural swing and better long-term value. If no, the standing BOB bag needs no installation at all and teaches better targeting through its human form. Our full comparison works through both sides.

What weight punching bag should I buy?

Roughly half your bodyweight is the standard guideline. A 60kg adult suits the 25kg P105; an 80kg adult suits the 40kg P125. Go lighter for speed and movement, heavier for power and conditioning. The sizing guide has a full table.

Which bag is best for children or beginners?

The 75cm, 10kg P075 at $100. Light enough to swing under a smaller person's punches, short enough to sit at the right height, and easy to take down between sessions. It also suits adults training for speed rather than power.

Which bag suits Muay Thai and kicking?

The 130cm, 40kg P125. Length matters more than weight for kicking — a 130cm bag brings the strike zone down to thigh height so low kicks and knees actually land on the bag rather than under it.

Can I try the bags before buying?

Yes, and we would prefer it. Every product is set up and ready to hit at our Lower Delta Road showroom. Bring hand wraps, throw a few rounds on each, and buy the one that felt right.

Installation and setup

Can I hang a punching bag from an HDB ceiling?

In almost all cases, no. HDB guidance limits objects suspended directly from a ceiling to about 6kg, and our lightest bag is 10kg. The workable alternatives are a wall bracket on a structural concrete wall, or a free-standing bag. See the HDB installation guide.

What kind of wall can take a punch bag bracket?

Brick, concrete block or reinforced concrete only. Never drywall, plasterboard or hollow partition walls — they cannot resist repeated shock loading and will fail. Tap the wall: a dead thud is good, a hollow ring is not.

Do you supply the wall plugs and bolts?

No. The correct anchor depends entirely on your wall material, so a generic set would do more harm than good. Buy heavy-duty expansion or sleeve anchors rated for your wall, or have a handyman assess it and supply them.

How much ceiling height do I need?

Allow the bag height plus roughly 40cm for the chain and hook, then at least 20cm of clearance underneath. For the 110cm bag that is about 1.7m of drop, which fits comfortably under a standard 2.6m ceiling.

Do you offer an installation service?

We do not install, but we will tell you honestly what your setup needs and what to ask a handyman for. Many customers buy the bracket from us and pay a handyman an hour to fit it.

Products and specifications

Are the punching bags pre-filled?

The hanging bags are — they arrive compacted to their stated weight with nothing to pack or settle. The standing BOB bag ships with an empty base which you fill with water or dry sand once it is in position, which is what keeps it manageable to move.

What comes with a hanging punching bag?

The pre-filled bag, a heavy-duty swivel carabiner, a 1-metre steel chain and a ceiling hook. The swivel matters — it lets the bag rotate instead of winding the chain up as you work angles.

Should I fill the BOB base with water or sand?

Water is easier — free, quick to fill, and drains when you move. Dry sand is denser, so the same base ends up heavier and steadier. If the bag will stay in one place, use sand. If you may move house, use water.

How much weight does the WM-40 wall bracket hold?

Up to 100kg, which covers every bag we sell including the 40kg P125 with a large safety margin. It projects 43cm from the wall, fixes through six anchor points, and includes a chin-up bar and carabiner.

Do I need hand wraps as well as gloves?

Yes. Gloves protect what you hit; wraps protect you, by binding the wrist and the small bones of the hand into a single unit. At $15 a pair they are the cheapest injury prevention available.

Delivery and collection

How much is delivery?

A flat $40.00 anywhere in Singapore, regardless of order size or location. No surcharges for CBD, no evening supplements, no surprises at checkout.

How long does delivery take?

Typically 1–2 working days, Monday to Friday between 10am and 5pm. We call before setting off so you are not waiting around.

Can I collect my order myself?

Yes, and it is free. Choose self-collection at checkout and the delivery fee comes off. Pick up from 1092 Lower Delta Road, #06-10, Singapore 169203 during opening hours, quoting your order reference.

What if there is no lift access?

Tell us in the order notes at checkout. A 40kg bag is a two-person carry and stairs change the plan, so we would rather know in advance than turn up unprepared.

Do you deliver outside Singapore?

Not currently. We deliver island-wide within Singapore only. If you are collecting on behalf of someone overseas, self-collection works fine — just quote the order reference.

Payment, returns and warranty

How can I pay?

PayNow, PayLah, bank transfer or card. Self-collection customers can also pay cash at the showroom. Every order gets an emailed confirmation with the payment reference to quote.

Is my payment secure?

Yes. Card payments are handled entirely by our payment provider on their own secure page — we never see or store your card details. Bank and PayNow transfers go directly between your bank and ours.

What is your returns policy?

Unused items in original condition can be returned within 7 days of receipt. Return shipping is at your cost unless the item was faulty or wrongly supplied. Full details on the returns and warranty page.

What does the warranty cover?

12 months against manufacturing defects — stitching, seams and hardware. It does not cover normal wear from training, damage from incorrect installation, or bags damaged by moisture in the filling.

Can I change or cancel an order?

Yes, if it has not shipped yet. Email order@punchbag.sg or call +65 6372 1581 with your order reference as soon as you can and we will amend or cancel it.
