What do I need to hang a punching bag?
A solid mounting point, a bracket or hook rated well above the bag weight, a chain and a swivel carabiner. Our hanging bags include the chain, carabiner and ceiling hook; what you usually need to add is the WM-40 wall bracket and the correct anchors for your wall.
Can I mount a punch bag bracket on any wall?
No. Brick, concrete block and reinforced concrete only. Drywall, plasterboard and hollow partitions cannot take the repeated shock loading of a swinging bag and will eventually fail — usually taking a large section of wall with them.
Do you supply the wall plugs and bolts?
No, and that is deliberate. The correct anchor depends entirely on your wall material, so supplying a generic set would be worse than supplying none. Buy anchors rated for your wall type, or have a handyman assess the wall and choose them.
How far should a punching bag hang from the wall?
Far enough that a hard hook does not put your knuckles into the wall. The WM-40 projects 43cm, which is the practical sweet spot — enough clearance to work angles, close enough that the leverage on the fixings stays sensible.
Do I need a swivel on my punching bag chain?
Yes, and one is included with every hanging bag we sell. Without a swivel the chain slowly winds up as you work around the bag, which twists the straps and shortens their life considerably.
